Following are a few of our most recent projects and presentations.

Composting consultant for Recology (formerly Norcal Waste Systems) Jepson Prairie Organics facility in Vacaville, California and two newly-acquired facilities in Oregon.

Consultant, reseracher and principal author of “Community Development Model for Resource Management for the Hilo Region of Hawai‘i,” a United States EPA and Hawaii Island Economic Development Board funded project to identify the largest organic discarded resource generating businesses on the island and match them with farms and other entities with the potential to utilize and benefit from these materials.

Consultant, researcher and principal author of Zero Waste Implementation Plan for County of Hawai‘i (a.ka. Big Island), with heavy focus on maximizing organic resource management to improve the island’s agriculture.

Consultant/researcher for City of Chula Vista, California studying, assessing, and making recommendations for source reduction, diversion, and decentralized processing options for discarded food organics.

Gave lecture entitled “Considering the Compost/Agriculture Connection,” “Sustaining our Island’s Environment” Zero Waste Conference 2008, The Mauna Lani Bay Hotel & Bungalows, September 11-13, 2008, Kohala Coast, Hawai’i.

Consultant for major wholesale produce supplier in Orange County, California, assessing diversion potential and processing options for spoiled produce.

Gave lecture entitled “Creating Markets for Organics by Working with Local Government Planners to
assist in getting Compostable Organic Resources back to the Farms, “Carbonopoly, Climate Change is not a Game,” California Resource Recovery Association 32nd Annual Conference and Tradeshow, Hyatt Regency San Francisco Airport, August 4, 2008, San Francisco, California.

Compost consultant for retirement campus in San Diego County troubleshooting odor and processing challenges with existing composting and vermiculture program.

Compost consultant for permitting, design, and development of large-scale composting facility on 100-acre dairy farm in San Diego County.

Gave lecture entitled “Opportunities and Barriers… Zero Waste Strategies for Food Scraps and Other Organics,” Earth Resource Foundation 3rd Annual Orange Business Conference “Zero In on Zero Waste: Don’t let your Bottom Line go to Waste,” Ford Motor Company, June 26, 2008, Irvine, California.

Gave lecture entitled “Source Separated Organics Programs - Hierarchy, Diversity, and an Emphasis on Food… Global Assessment of Collection and Processing,” BioCycle West Coast Conference, April 14, 2008, San Diego, California.

Under contract as its compost consultant, acquired an OMRI certification for compost for a private sector client in Baja California, Mexico.

Designed and delivered the “Environmentally Friendly Gardening and Organic Resource Management Workshop” at the Shipley Nature Center on July 21, 2007 in Huntington Beach, California.

Working as a subcontractor for Organic Recycling, Inc. of Tappan, New York, Hidden Resources is the compost consultant for a publicly owned, open windrow composting facility in Ladue, Missouri (a compost site smack dab in the middle of one of St. Louis’ most affluent neighborhoods!), advising the client on operational issues, process monitoring, and odor management.

Conducted a composting and manure management workshop for horse owners themed “Save Money, Improve soils, Protect Waterways, and Grow Healthy Plants!” held at the Elfin Valley Nursery/Costanzo Farm on June 23, 2007 in Escondido, California.

Lead researcher and compost consultant working with Richard Anthony Associates and the San Diego County Farm Bureau on the County of San Diego’s organic resource management program, targeting development of on-farm commercial composting strategies, direct land application, and manure management programs.

Gave a presentation entitled “Composting's Role in Reducing Global Warming,” at the San Diego County Fair’s Enviro Fair on June 16, 2007 in Del Mar, California.

Compost consultant for an open windrow composting facility in Tijuana, Mexico, advising the client on business development, regulatory compliance, and finished product marketing.

Presented “The Role of Organics in a Zero Waste Strategy” at the Ocean Beach Zero Waste Workshop on May 19, 2007 at Point Loma Nazarene University in San Diego, California.

Working with Richard Anthony Associates, organized regional composting conference for County of San Diego, California.

Moderated the session “Municipal Utilities ‘Go Sustainable,’” at the 23rd Annual BioCycle West Coast Conference on April 17, 2007 at the Town & Country Resort and Convention Center in San Diego California.

Compost consultant for assessment of administrative, marketing, regulatory compliance, and technical process practices of large-scale, open windrow composting facility in Woodbine, Maryland.

Gave a talk on “Eliminating Barriers to Farmers/Reinvesting Organic Resources into Soil ” at the California Resource Recovery Association policy workshop -Reducing Greenhouse Gases Through Composting Organics on March 19, 2007, Cal/EPA Headquarters in Sacramento, California.

Presented “Sustainable Practices for Landscapers and Tree Trimmers” on February 27, 2007 at the San Diego County Water Authority in San Diego, California.
